4.6 weathering course: a course comprising of brick jelly concrete and tiles on top, normally laid at top surface of the terrace or rcc roof slab is called weathering course. purpose: 1. to prevent the transfer of heat into the room below the roof. 2. to protect the roof slab from the weathering effect of wind, sun, rain and snow. 3. to prevent the rain water entering into the roof slab or terrace. materials required: 1. brick jelly 2. lime 3. cement 6. crude oil 4 sand 5. flat tiles brick jelly concrete preparation: finish the top of the roof slab with a course of brick jelly lime concrete and one course of pressed tiles set in cm 1:3 mix with crude oil. compact a brick jelly lime concrete with a proportion of 1:2.5 from a thickness of 100 mm to 75mm. no sand to be used in brick jelly concrete. a minimum slope of 1 in 50 is given to the brick jelly lime concrete layer towards the rainwater drainage pipes.
